Resolved Question: i want towrite a novel. is this a good idea/start?
I have never witnessed a night, darker than this. So quiet, not even did the crickets chirp. This still silence overtakes all of it’s surroundings. The only sound within earshot is the sound of rusty shackels dangling from his worn tired hands. No one dares look him in the eye, they are afraid. Behind his humble stare, there is no fear. He has no sense of warmth reflecting off his soul. All sense of emotion and feeling has faded from his expression. He slowly moves forward with a keene look in his eye. No one can tell what lies beneath his appearance, for no one dares attempt to get close enough, to see. His feet drag upon the ground and leaves trails of tired feet. Each step he takes echo’s in his mind as a constant reminder of where he once was. He does not fear where he’s headed. Head held high, he continues on. Clothes are torn, filthy, and bare the smell of an uncleansed man. He resided in a log cabin past the meadows, in the mountains. He was there alone for a many of years. His jacket is stained with blood from his own flesh and is covered with dirt from where he last lay. The scars on his hands, remain unhealed. Carved into each wrist are words he didn’t wish to forget. The hairs on his chin, untidy, as is the hair that lay upon his head. His eyes are bloodshot and bare a tired look. None of this is noticed however, for he is only accompanied by the two escorts at his side who bare no concern to him at all. Up the stairs they go, through the swinging doors, down a long white corradoor. Passing many doors, they make there way to a room. He hears the sound of blood curtling screams throughout the hallway. He approaches the door to his room and slowly enters. The door closes behind him. Upon the door is a sign, “Insane asylum.” Still bound by chains, he sits in his chair and gazes at the man infront of him. The officer says, “I’m assuming you’re wondering as to why you’re hear?” The old man does not speak. The officer says, “Let me tell you why you are here.” The old man speaks with a harsh raspy voice, “You think I’m a mad man!” The officer says, “Shouldn’t I?” The old man grows quiet. The officer says, “What could you have been doing all this time, to allow people to think you’re a mad man?” The old man says, “I do not deserve to be here, I have committed no crime.” The officer says, “What have you done?” Again the old man says, “I have committed no crime!” The officer says, “Okay, fair enough, perhaps you haven’t committed a crime, but why are you here, what have you been doing?” The old man says, “I don’t know why i’m here, but i’ve been searching.” The officer says, “Searching for what?” The old man says, “I couldn’t tell you if I tried, for I don’t know.” The officer says, “What do you mean you don’t know, how could you be searching for something if you don’t know what you’re looking for?” I suppose none of it matters now, for you are here in this place, and it is here where we intend to help you.” The old man says, “Here, is just another place, four new walls surrouning me, unable to contain my thoughts.” You could put me in any size room and although my body is confined in such a small place, my mind is not, it wanders freely and without hesitation.” What makes you think I need your help, what makes you think you can even help me? You see a mad man because you don’t understand me, therefore I am mad, I am not like you, and I don’t try to be, therefore I am insane. Your train of thought is illogical and pathetic. You don’t allow yourself to look past your own nose, and therefore you don’t see me for who I am. Again I shall say, I am no mad man.” “How dare you try to classify me as such.”
