My family own 30 acres in rural Louisiana, what is the best way to generate money w/o selling the land?
A relative passed away a few years ago and left us this. It is riverfront to the Quachita river. I am looking for ideas and suggestions to what the best way to earn money through the use of this land. I figure what better way to brainstorm than to ask the world on here ^.^
Resolved Question: Any sugestions for a nontraditional wedding reception?
We are having a Nautical themed wedding and getting married on a boat docked at our 4 acres of riverfront property in a very lovely location. The reception will be held immediately following the vows on the property. We’re not really into dancing and only want a reception that last 2-3 hours. Besides the sit down dinner and eating all the food we plan on having catered, and cutting the cake, what are some things we can do to pass the time. I’m worried it will be to boring. I wouldn’t mind having background music and maybe a first dance, but what else can we do? ANY SUGGESTIONS AND THOUGHTS WOULD HELP! THANKS!!!!!!
I don’t know. I was palning on getting off the boat saying hi to all the guests (about 100 people) and going right into the dinner. Should I have a cocktail hour? Maybe this would be a perfect time for the posed wedding pictures to be taken by the photographer…..
I just worried about my guests being bored since we’re not plannig on having the traditional “party-time dancing” after dinner. I am open to making the reception last longer, if there is more to do.
Resolved Question: Why not consider St. Louis as your next travel desination???… here is all the info you need :o)?
Do Something Different!!!
My thoughts as a native St. Louisian….
St. Louis, Missouri is a great place to visit in November. Visit the Arch and take a romantic walk around Memorial Park as you look at the changing leaves and watch the Mississippi River roll lazily by below you.
It is a great city to be romantic… or to find romance.

Forest Park, officially opened to the public on June 24, 1876, is one of the largest urban parks in the United States. At 1,293 acres, it is approximately 500 acres larger than Central Park in New York.
Today it attracts more than 12 million visitors a year. It is more than a scenic backdrop to our city. It is an active participant and catalyst in the St. Louis community. Monuments, historic buildings, wildlife, waterways and landscapes combine to form a unique cultural institution that is vitally important to the entire St. Louis region. The park is recognized as an important gathering place where people of all ages, races and economic backgrounds can gather and mix in a positive way.
It is the home to the region’s major cultural institutions—the Zoo, Art Museum, History Museum, Science Center and the Muny Opera. It also serves as a sports center for golf, tennis, baseball, bicycling, boating, fishing, handball, ice skating, roller blading, jogging, rugby and more.
